I am a scholar of medieval Chinese literature and cultural history (220–1300), specializing in classical poetry and poetics, lyric, and prose. My research adopts interdisciplinary methods and interrogates questions at the intersections of poetry, aesthetics, and sense epistemologies. As a scholar of the middle period broadly defined, I'm interested in the dynamic interactions and relations between literati and Buddhist and Daoist practitioners, and how such relations shaped cultural sensibilities.
