Terasaki Center For Japanese Studies

Established in 1991, the UCLA Terasaki Center has been a platform for research on Japan. Our distinguished faculty, students, postdoctoral fellows, visiting scholars, and the board of advisors have been contributing to the field of Japanese studies for over 20 years.

The Terasaki Center sponsors a vast array of events throughout the year. With its colloquium series, the Center brings academics from diverse fields to UCLA each year. Special workshops and annual conferences bring leading scholars to discuss topics relating to Japan.

Graduate Student Travel Grants

The Travel Awards program assists UCLA graduate students with travel expenses related to their research on Japan and enables them to present papers at professional conferences. Students may apply for a grant to fund travel that has occurred since the last award deadline (the prior 6 months) or travel that will occur within the following 6 months. Awards may be used only for transportation costs to and from the conference or place of research. Students must show proof of seeking supplemental departmental funding.
